DANIEL DIAS
Daniel Dias is a director, screenwriter and content manager, with projects for TV, Video and Film, active since 1995, graduated in Advertising from FAAP in São Paulo, Brazil, and a with a postgraduate degree from California State University, Northridge.
A seasoned and creative professional, Daniel thrives in both “on-set” and corporate situations, having working closely with channels and executives from all over the world to better achieve the requested results. His perspective of over twenty years of entertainment business allows him to oversee all aspects of production, from development through exhibition, making the best of each professional’s specialties and keeping an eye on the final product.
He is one of the writers of fictional series “Sem Volta”, recently shown by Record Network and A&E; and the creator, director and writer of musical reality show “Mixados”, produced by Academia de Filmes, broadcast earlier this year (2017) on PlayTV. He is also the director and screenwriter, via Delicatessen Films, of musical reality show “Breakout Brasil” for the Sony Channel. Daniel has extensive experience with pop culture. He is also the director of “Back Track” (VH1 and Lifetime) and “Missão Pet” (Nat Geo), via Nation Films, and has concluded works as the director of reality shows “Capricho Fashion Season” and “Boombox in Studio” for the Boomerang channel. He was an assistant director of the comedy show “It’s All Improv”, broadcast by Band Network and, for that same channel; he developed the pioneering project of an interactive telejournalism course between 2011 and 2012.
He began his career abroad, where he worked in Los Angeles, in the area of production for Columbia Pictures on films like “Spider Man” and “Ali”, besides participating in the production of music videos and commercials by Flicker Films and documentaries and news series by MS-NBC. In England, he was responsible for MTV Brazil’s coverage of the Reading Festival in 2006. He also directed coverage of events like Red Bull BC One (break dancing competition) and Red Bull Music Academy (workshop with musicians from 80 countries), both in 2007 in Johannesburg, South Africa and Toronto, Canada, respectively.
Director, writer and chief editor of journalism at MTV Brazil between 2005 and 2007, Daniel was also responsible for a series of special programs on the same channel, including documentaries like “MTV: 15 Years” and “16 Years of Summer”. Before that, in 2003, Daniel released the documentary film “Música de Trabalho”, about the world of independent music in Brazil, shown in theaters at nine Brazilian capitals and officially selected for national and international festivals. The film was a pioneer in its theme and made a brand name out of his creator.
Today, besides his directorial and writing duties, Daniel gives a short-term course in Writing for Television and is responsible for folk musical project Flowers On The Moon.
